Arizona Mystery Writers are on the move!
Our First Meeting – New Location “Writing Dynamic Dialogue

AMW Sep Meeting

Arizona Mystery Writers are on the move! We've found a very accessible, first-floor, easy-to-find site with lots of parking. PLUS there's a food court and coffee.

With easy access, comfy seating, and the ability to easily simulcast our meeting on Zoom, it's no mystery why we've changed our location.

We will meet at the CATALYST Creative Collective at the Tucson Mall, 4500 N. Oracle Road, Tucson.

For our FIRST meeting Saturday, September 13th, your board will provide coffee and snacks. The mall doors open at 10:00 a.m., so we'll gather at 10:15.

FOR OUR DEBUT MEETING AT OUR NEW SITE, WE'VE SCHEDULED A DYNAMITE SPEAKER, AUTHOR D.R. RANSDELL!

Check out this short video for details about our new meeting location:

WRITING DYNAMIC DIALOGUE

Dynamic Dialogues

“What are you doing on Saturday morning?”

“None of your business.”

“I asked an innocent question.”

“None of your questions are innocent.”

“What are you trying to imply?”

“That you’re a nosy busybody. That’s what!”

“If you don’t like it, you can just leave!”

The door slams.

End of scene.

Whether you're writing short stories or novels, chances are that you're incorporating some dialogue into your writing. But dialogues can do a lot more than convey information. They can enhance mood, set tone, increase tension, add humor, and develop character. That's a lot! In this workshop, we'll discuss the use of dialogue, look at short samples, and try writing or enhancing sample dialogues of our own. Bring along a piece you'd like to workshop or some ideas for a dynamic conversation you would like to create.

The charge for members is $10 and $15 for non-members. Join us in this terrific new meeting place!

D.R. writes from Tucson, Arizona, when she’s not gallivanting about. Although she pretends to teach composition at the University of Arizona (despite AI), she moonlights in a mariachi band, which gives her plenty of ideas for potential victims. (So do her students, but she doesn’t mention that in class.) Although Dervla Alarms the Nanas takes place in Tucson, the upcoming The Cézanne Chihuahua takes readers to one of her favorite spots, the French Riviera. Visit her at www.dr-ransdell.com.
