February 11th meeting: Oro Valley PD; Audiobooks A-Z

CHANGE IN MEETING LOCATION FOR FEBRUARY: Because of the Gem Show, we are meeting at U-Like Buffet, which is just north of River Road on Oracle (where the Hometown Buffet used to be).

Announcement 1: If you have not paid your dues ($25), pay them at the February meeting – otherwise you will be paying the non-member price for February.

Announcement 2: We are having a PI for our April meeting. You are encouraged to submit questions beforehand! Send them to amwmembershipchair@gmail.com with “PI question” in the subject line.

Reminder: Our prices are $25 for RSVP’d AMW members, $30 non-members.

Policing differs not only by region but by department; each has different operating procedures. Join us in welcoming Lt. Kara Riley from the Oro Valley Police Department, who will offer us an overview of the OVPD, including community policing efforts and different programs in Oro Valley. Lt. Riley has been a police officer since 1992, including more than nine years at OVPD. For the past five years, she has served as the Chief’s Executive Officer, who holds the responsibilities of training, the office of professional standards and the public information officer.

We’ll have a delicious lunch, and a fun drawing.

In our afternoon session, ACX Masterclass graduate Kalisha Fleischmann will speak to us about how to get an audiobook produced. Did you know that audiobooks sales have now surpassed regular book sales? Learn what to expect in the process, royalty share vs. per finished hour, appropriate scripts to post, a VO’s point of view and more.

RSVP by 9:30 am, Wednesday, February 8th to save your place. $30 non-members includes lunch. $25 RSVP’d AMW (not Meetup) members. Pay at the door. RSVP by clicking the button on http://www.meetup.com/Arizona-Mystery-Writers-of-Tucson/ or email amwmembershipchair@gmail.com. See you there!
