Sergeant Brian Parker has been with the Tucson Police Department for nearly fifteen years. He studied law enforcement in college, then entered the workforce in corrections, and soon after, was hired as a Pima County sheriff’s deputy. He joined TPD in 2000. In 2003, while working undercover, he started journaling, writing down the more extraordinary things that happened to him as a law enforcement officer. That journal expanded into his book, “My Rookie Memoir.”

Our afternoon workshop will feature a panel of experts discussing the various mystery genres, and what it takes to write them. Do you know the difference between a police procedural and a cozy? Find out! There are different rules for writing each kind of mystery story.
