For our November meeting, we are lucky to have author Debra H. Goldstein, Judge, litigator, mother of twins, former Jeopardy contestant, and award-winning author of multiple cozy mysteries. Her latest series, featuring enthusiastic cook, Sarah Blair, includes One Taste Too Many (2019), Two Bites Too Many (2019), and Three Treats Too Many (2020). Debra has a BA in English and History from the University of Michigan and a J.D. from Emory University. Her very first story submission, “The Night they Burned Ms. Dixie’s Place,” was accepted by Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine (May/June, 2017) and became an Anthony and Agatha Award Short Story Finalist. She is on the national boards of Sisters in Crime and Mystery Writers of America.
Debra will talk to us about her life and her books for fifteen minutes or so and then we can ask her questions about writing cozy mysteries, getting published, her books, or anything else she is willing to talk about.
For the rest of the hour, we can talk about our favorite cozies. Several of our mystery writers write them. Tell us your experience. Why is it such a popular genre with readers? What makes a good one good? What are your favorites?
