June 14, Saturday at 10 am on ZOOM

The Arizona Rangers are a law enforcement auxiliary with roots dating back to 1901. The Arizona Rangers played a key role in the settlement of Arizona. In Saturday's meeting, we'll learn about their formation, history, and past and current contributions to our state.

Our speaker, Steve Utter, is a native of Arizona who grew up in Florida. After twenty-two years of active service in the U.S. Army, he retired in December 1993, moved to Tucson, and began working for the Arizona Department of Corrections. In 2003, he received a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration. He retired from Corrections as a Programs Supervisor at the Arizona State Prison Complex-Tucson.

In 2013, Steve encountered the Arizona Rangers at a charity event. After a lengthy vetting process, he became a Ranger in January 2014. Since then he has volunteered at numerous and varied events, worked as their Public Information Officer, and now is the Tucson Company Historian.

NOTE: Steve has provided us with a list of books about the Arizona Rangers. It is below the meeting announcement. The website for the Arizona Rangers is https://azrangers.us/
