Can Laughter & Murder Mix?

June -  Meeting: Saturday, June 10, 2023
at 10 am - 11:30 am

Kathy McIntosh outside smaller (1)

Humor in Mysteries? Kathy McIntosh definitely believes there's a place for humor in mysteries. She'll share her thoughts on how humor helps our writing, where it got its start, and how to best include humor in your writing.   She'll even provide a list of some of the classics and some new authors whose books made her chuckle. Bring your list of favorites to share!

We'll meet LIVE at The "L" Offices, 1840 E. River Road. We'll provide coffee and treats, you provide the questions. Our membership is growing...but we'd love to see more faces at our LIVE meetings! Please join us.

The meeting will run from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with time for catching up from 11:30 to noon.

Costs for members is $10, $15 for non-members. Bring cash for our book raffle. (It helps cover the cost of our meeting space.) Kathy will have copies of her books for sale.

We'll also be streaming the meeting by Zoom, at no charge (but without treats).

ABOUT OUR SPEAKER:

Inspired by the hilarious novels of Carl Hiaasen, Kathy McIntosh writes mysteries that highlight what she loves—travel, the environment, food, and humor. She grew up in Southern California, with parents who took her camping throughout the American Southwest, instilling in her a love of our state.

Kathy’s a reformed high-tech marketer and former columnist on words and business writing. In 2014, she and her husband moved to Tucson from Idaho, where she set her first two novels. Now they explore the country and cuisine of the Sonoran Desert. Her latest novel, Murder, Cottonwood Styleis set in Cottonwood, Arizona—neighbor to Sedona but with fewer vortexes.

Kathy also writes short stories with a touch of humor. Her latest, “Something Extra,” is out in Trouble in Tucson, an anthology produced by the Tucson Sisters in Crime chapter for the Left Coast Crime conference held in Tucson in February.
