May 11th, 10:00 a.m. Retired Lt Col Ryan Oakley at The "L" Offices River & Campbell
Last month Lt Col Ryan Oakley spoke to us about the Air Force Judge Advocate General's Corps (JAG). He mentioned that on rare occasions Hollywood writers and popular authors make errors (!) in writing about the military. More specifically, about the JAG.
So this month, Lt Col Ryan will return...with the REAL story about what writers & TV shows get wrong, and what they get right.
This retired JAG officer ought to know. During his JAG career, Lt Col Oakley served as a two-time Staff Judge Advocate, Component Number Air Force Deputy Staff Judge Advocate, Deputy Director of the Office of Legal Policy for the Under Secretary of Defense (Personnel and Readiness) and academic instructor at the Air Force Judge Advocate General’s School.
Last month we heard about real life in the JAG. This month we will hear what irks our speaker--who's also a member of Arizona Mystery Writers--about the fictional portrayal of his corps. Is there a book in his future? Be sure to ask on May 11th!
We'll meet LIVE at The "L" Offices, 1840 E. River Road. (See below for more information.) We'll provide coffee and treats, you provide the questions.
The meeting will run from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with time for catching up from 11:30 to noon.
Costs for members is $10, $15 for non-members.
We'll also be streaming the meeting by Zoom, at no charge (but without treats). Plus, our popular book raffle returns--bring some cash!
