Our November meeting:
As Arizona residents, we all know there’s some dangerous wildlife creeping around our environment. But can you center a murder mystery around it? Dr. Cecil Schwalbe, ecologist emeritus with the U.S. Geological Survey and affiliate faculty member at the University of Arizona, will delve into how to commit herpetological homicide and get away with it. He will also address using other animals and plants to eliminate adversaries. You will be familiar with some of these agents of death, but we will look at novel ways to use them, based on new knowledge.
We’ll have a delicious lunch, and a fun book drawing.
Our afternoon session will be Planting Clues: A Panel Discussion, with Bonnie Edwards, Elizabeth Gunn and Kathy McIntosh. When you write your mystery, be it a thriller, caper, police procedural, or cozy, your sleuth investigates the crime by gathering clues. Some of the clues found by your sleuth can point toward the killer, others may misdirect. If you want your reader to stay involved, you need to be able to plant clues effectively. Our panelists will explain how they work with clues in their own writing, and give examples from their work to demonstrate the good, bad and ugly of planting clues.
