The Honorable Danelle B Liwski and the Honorable Jeffrey Bergin will talk to us about the criminal justice system and Superior Court. They want to structure the session around members’ questions, so get your thinking caps on!
Our Speakers
The Honorable Danelle B. Liwski received her law degree from the University of Arizona in 1990. She has been active in the bench and bar with the highlight being the Arizona High School Mock Trial Program.
She was appointed to Division 6 of the Pima County Superior Court bench on April 8, 2011. In 2014 she joined the Criminal Bench where she presided over all levels of felony cases, criminal competency, criminal mental health court, guilty except insane and sexually violent predator cases. Judge Liwski has served as the Presiding Criminal Judge, the Associate Presiding Judge and as of July 2024, the Presiding Judge for Pima County.
The Honorable Jeffrey Bergin was appointed to the Superior Court by former governor Jan Brewer in 2011. He was named Presiding Judge for the Pima County Superior Court on July 1st, 2021.
Judge Bergin has held assignments on the Civil Bench, the Family Bench, and the Criminal Bench. He also sat on the Pima County Superior Courts Back to Operations task force, the Arizona State Supreme Court Committee on Superior Court, and the Civil Practice and Procedures Committee.
Bergin was born and raised in Arizona. After graduating from law school, he entered into private practice, handling complex civil litigation matters involving bad faith insurance, wrongful death, product liability, and construction defects matters.
His memberships have included the Arizona Judges Association, where he served as President, and the Arizona College of Trial Advocacy. He has also volunteered as an attorney for Defenders of Children.
We’ll meet LIVE at The “L” Offices, 1840 E. River Road. We’ll provide coffee and treats, you provide the questions.
The meeting will run from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with time for catching up from 11:30 to noon.
The fee is $10 for members, $15 for nonmembers, to offset the rental space expenses, and you can pay in advance online with Paypal or Zelle sent to amwtreasurer@gmail.com, or at the door with cash or check.
