July 10, 2021: Chief Brian Seastone, UofA Police Dept.

Retiring, But Not Shy About Answering Our Questions!

Chief Brian Seastone of the University of Arizona Police Department is retiring in August from his 41 year law enforcement career.

We’re delighted he’s agreed to chat with us at our July 8th Zoom meeting, before he moves into retirement and new adventures. His topic is “To Protect and To Serve,” and he’ll share stories from that 41 year career.

Chief Seastone visited with us in 2017, focusing on the challenges of law enforcement on campus. Let’s welcome him back with congratulations on his retirement and lots of questions!

About Chief Brian Seastone:

Brian Seastone began his law enforcement career in high school as a police cadet with the Boulder, Colorado Police Department and later became the Boulder County Sheriff’s Department’s major crime scene processor.

He joined the U of A Police Department in 1980 and was promoted to Chief of the University of Arizona Police Department in 2014. During his career at the University, he also served as the University of Arizona’s first Manager of Emergency Preparedness, the Accreditation Manager from 1990-2000, and as the Public Information Officer for many years. He has been the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions throughout his career. Chief Seastone is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy, has a Bachelor of Arts in Management and a Master of Education degree.

A Facebook post from The University of Arizona Police Department mentioned that Chief Seastone delayed  his retirement to help the university community and the UAPD navigate the pandemic. (And, of course, to speak to Arizona Mystery Writers!)
